Tuesday, May 5th

WINDOW BOXES
Time: 10 am - 3 pm
Instructor: Daniela Hogan
Fee: $35
Large print fabrics aren't just for borders anymore! Daniela has found a great way to highlight large prints throughout your quilt. This pattern is great for new quilters and more seasoned quilters alike. With its quick piecing method, you'll have your quilt complete in no time!

STRIPS AND LOGS
Time:6 pm - 9 pm
Instructor: Beverly Middleton
Fee: $30
Instructional class for cutting and piecing the “Strips and Logs” Quilt. The class will focus on reading pattern instructions, quilting terminology, rotary cutting, ¼ inch seam sewing and pieced construction. Emphasis will be given to use of pre-cut 2½” X 42” strip sets and impact from use of “gradient” fabric. Completed quilt top is 62” X 82”.

MACHINE QUILTING BASICS: Free-Motion Quilting

Curvy, geometric or both? Learn which style is your favorite and the basics of free motion quilting in a no mark technique workshop. You will be introduced to several different free motion quilting patterns in this free-motion quiting class.

INTRO TO THREAD PAINTING: Ginkgo Mini

Learn the basics of painting with thread! Students will learn how to add color, shading and highlights to a flat area to give it dimension, as well as:
  • about stabilizers
  • what threads work well for thread painting
  • how to build color
  • how to add overall color, shading and highlights

BEGINNING QUILTING

This class will teach you all the basics for making your first quilt from start to finish. From pressing to binding you will learn it all. Whether you've never made a quilt before or you want to freshen up on the fundamentals, this class is for you.

Transport yourself to somewhere tropical while working on this beauty! This class works with 2.5" strips to create unique, chained blocks. This quilt set is on point - an added bonus if that technique is on your "to learn" list!

SUCCESSFUL HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES
Time: 6 pm - 9 pm
Instructor: Beverly Middleton
Fee: $30
Instructional class to learn Half Square Triangle piecing. Focus will be on reading pattern instructions, quilting terminology, rotary cutting, 1/4 inch sewing and pieced construction. Emphasis will be given to use of "Layer Cake" squares and construction of Half Square Triangles. Demonstration of "Triangulations" will be a part of the instruction. Completed quilt top is 60" X 65".

NEW YORK BEAUTY
Time: May 29th: 10 am - 5 pm &s; June 12th: 10 am - 4 pm

Fee: $55
Black and white prints with a bit of color sure do make a stunning quilt! We will concentrate on the center four-block units first and you will complete the other blocks on your own. The second class will concentrate on putting all the units together. This class is not for beginners. Embroidering the blocks is a breeze, while the piecing of the corner stones can be challenging.

EMBROIDERY CLUB

Applique 101. Learn the steps of easy applique for letters, designs and how to turn a frame into an applique. No supplies needed! Lecture demo in the Sewing Center. You do not have to own a Baby Lock machine to come. We welcome all brand of machine owners to our club.





EL CAMINO REAL - NEW BLOCK OF THE MONTH
WE CAN ONLY TAKE 12 PEOPLE!!!

From Nancy Rink, this quilt pairs her flair for color with prints inspired by California's rich history, a blend of Spanish Mexican and Native American traditions. Bright color and intricate motifs echo the decorative tile work of El Camino Real (The King's Highway) and the architecture of the region. The finished quilt measures 94 1/2" x 114".

During this 12-month Block of the Month program, you will receive the pattern and fabrics needed to complete the quilt top including borders and binding. There is a $30 non-refundable star-up fee and the only 25.95 per month. Save $90 and pay for the entire 12 months at once for $280! Classes start the first Saturday of February 2015 and continue the first Saturday of each month from 9-10 am.

Just want to buy the kit and patter? You MUST preorder by December 1, 2014 in order to receive your kit. Kits will arrive the first week in February, 2015 and will be available for pickup or shipment. Kit price: $195

Class Policy:

Class Policy
  • The class fee must be collected when you sign up for the class to guarantee your seat. Each fee is listed next to the class listing.
  • If you cannot attend a class for which you have registered you must let us know 7 days prior to class time. We will be happy to refund you class fee and/or register you in another class.
  • If you cancel after the 7-day time allowance, up until the day of the class, your class fee is nonrefundable.
  • A minimum of 3 students is required for class. If this requirement is not met, usually the class will be canceled and you will be refunded your class fee.
  • Mary Jo's' reserves the right to cancel classes for any reason. If this happens, you will be refunded your class fee.
  • There are no refunds on class fees for 'Special Event' teachers/classes within 30 days of class date unless we can fill your spot with another person. NO EXCEPTIONS!
We reserve the right to substitute fabrics based on availability.
