FREE-MOTION QUILTING
ON THE BABY LOCK TIARA

Instructor: Linda Hall
Time: 9:30am to 4:30pm
Fee: $50 (kit included)
With Baby Lock Grip and Template Quilting System The Creative Motion Quilting Design System was created by a quilter for quilters to make Free Motion Quilting faster and easier for the Beginner yet versatile enough for the more advanced stitcher.

The system includes: Tru-Grip – with an offset holder for the Baby Lock Tru- Stitch Regulator. Free-Motion Grip – without the offset. Template pattern inserts for Structured Free-Motion Quilting. The main component is the Tru-Grip tool that acts as another set of hands to hold the quilt steady while free-motion quilting. The Tru-Grip also holds the Tru-Stitch Regulator secure so that the quilter can concentrate on his/her designs rather than holding on to the tools. No more racing motor or jerking speed, no more split second delay in movement and the machine's response, no more difficulty in controlling the machine or the stitch patterns, no matter how complex. Creative focus and flow is undisturbed without distraction when using it.

    DIY Scrap Fabric Wreath

From Christmas Scraps to Spring Sensation

    Fabric Wreath whol.jpg
Do you have a ton of extra fabric laying around? We have the PERFECT idea for you... a fabric wreath! This is an excellent way to celebrate the ever-so-near spring season and an excellent project to do with the kids - no needle or thread involved!

    What You’ll Need

    Fabric wreath tools.JPG
    • Fabric shears
    • Pieces of fabric
    • Wire wreath frame with multiple circular hoops (12”-18” in diameter frames, easily found at your local craft store)
    • "Extras" to embellish your wreath (small items to sew or hot glue onto the wreath)

Step 1 - Cut Your Fabric

    Cut Fabric.jpg
First, cut fabric into 1” x 6” strips and organize them by pattern. The sizing does not have to be precise, just remember the thicker the pieces, the fuller the wreath. (Beware! If you cut the pieces too thick or short you’ll have trouble tying them - your fingers might grow little mouths and start to yell, “Why would you do this to us?!’).

Step Two - Knot Your Fabric

    Knot fabric.jpg
After your fabric is cut, begin tying the strips in simple knots around the wired frame. As you tie, keep the knots close together and bring all the fabric forward so that one side of the wreath is all fabric, while the other is just the knots. Continue this process around the frame until it’s completely full!

Tips: Alternate colors and patterns for a more vibrant look and remember, the tighter the bunches, the fuller the wreath!

Step Three - Add Your Extras

    wreath with added pieces.jpg
You can get creative with this part! Add your extra little pieces with needle and thread, hot glue or thin wire.

Step Four - Hang Your Wreath

    hang wreath.jpg
Just like that you are done! We hope this gives you a fun project to do as the weather soon transitions into spring!

Celebrating 65 Years at Mary Jo’s Cloth Store!

Mary Jo’s Cloth Store was founded in 1951 by a young lady with a simple dream to own her own cloth shop. Now, 65 years later, we are celebrating the journey of the South’s Fabric Queen (Mary Jo) in conjunction with her 84th birthday! January 16, 2016 marks Mary Jo’s Cloth Store’s 65th Anniversary, and we have tons of fun events and offers in the works to celebrate Mary Jo’s favorite people, her customers, that day!

    Mary Jo’s Cloth Store Memories

In honor of 65 years, we are looking to find videos, pictures and stories our customers have about their times at Mary Jo’s Cloth Store. With 65 years of history behind us, we know there have to be a few good ones! Did your mother purchase the fabric for all of your back to school clothes from Mary Jo’s or did you spend hours upon hours contemplating the perfect lace for your wedding dress in our store with your closest friends? Do you have an adorable picture of your grandson asleep in his stroller at Mary Jo’s? Then you’re exactly who we are looking for!

Ready to be a part of Mary Jo’s history?

Share your videos, pictures or stories with us on Facebook by January 8th and we’ll feature them on the TV’s in our store during our 65th Anniversary Celebration on January 16! After the celebration, we’ll add your submissions to our blog for a permanent online feature!
